Capt. Rick's Goals for Each Day of Fishing

My Fishing Philosophy:

First and foremost you need to understand that fishing is supposed to be fun. I try to take time to teach my customers so they learn proper technique to make their angling experience easier and fun. I like to match the tackle to the customer's needs.

Most people do not enjoy three hour battles fighting one fish, nor do they enjoy just cranking the fish up with a winch. Matching the tackle, helps in releasing game fish with out killing them. All fish can be fun from the small guy's to the monsters if the tackle is matched to the task.

I'm not saying sometimes we don't get a surprise and get caught with a very big tarpon or shark on twelve pound spinning tackle, it happens, but I make every effort to match the tackle to the task for maximum fun. When it comes to killing edibles for dinner, I have no problem catching enough for dinner but I hate to kill more than you need for a meal or two. That said I do support catch and release fishing to protect our great fishing for the future.

We strongly suggest that you let us " just do our thing" when it comes to what to fish for. The fishing changes here with weather and season rapidly. The Gulf We all travel and have fish on our hit list. The old saying, "when in Rome" goes a long way on a fishing boat. We want you to catch fish very badly. We work very hard to achieve this goal. Our boats are rigged and ready for anything that swims in our waters and we have a wide variety. We rarely unless requested by our client target a specific fish. Rather we as good fishermen fish every second of the day for what ever presents itself. Sure we have a plan each day, but its amazing how many days that we find so many fish on the way to our "spot" they we never even make it! If you watch you will see us scanning for birds, currents, splashing or what ever may show itself almost constantly. That is the thrill of Gulf fishing, its different every day.

It is your day, you can pick the type of fishing you want to fish for. I may suggest something that I think is better, but if you have your heart set on Tarpon fishing when there aren't many around, we can always try. One thing to remember is you hired me and put your trust in me to put you on fish. If we do it your way, you take control of our success. Each trip is different and custom, that's how private charters work. You get a choice. Probably the most important thing when were out fishing is communication. If your not having fun or you want to try something else TELL us. In the end if we work together we'll have a great day.

At the end of the trip a couple of things will happen, you will have great memories to take home, I'll have made a new friend and hopefully you'll come back real soon and fish with me again.
